Based on solid experience with Cable Layers and Cable Ships, Drammen Yard has developed modern and efficient designs of equipment for sub-sea cable laying.
Most renowned is the yard for the turntables or the cable carousels able to load hundred of miles of sub-sea cables, popular known as the “Drammen Cable Carousels”.
With the latest in technology with step-less speed- and torque control, cable carousels are designed and produced in all sizes for various kind of cables and umbilicals for all purposes, being for production, transport and laying of cable, for both onshore and offshore locations.
As an alternative to specialized and expensive Cable Ships useful for cable laying only, Drammen Yard design and produce cable laying equipment for converting an ordinary offshore supply vessel to a Cable Layer in a matter of days.

An Off-the-shelf package
The Drammen Yard Carousel has all the advantages of an “Off the shelf package”.
Every installation is done according to client specifications, but the components, and the various combinations of them, are all thoroughly tested and improved through several deliveries.
To minimize the need for specialized installations on the vessel, all necessary equipment is pre-arranged in containers and self-sustained units, which gives installation arrangement flexibility.
Rugged design Interruptions in offshore cable laying are most commonly caused by damages to vital parts resulting from the extreme dynamic forces encountered at sea.
By keeping the number of moving parts to a minimum and using components as rugged and simplistic as possible, the Drammen Yard Carousel lets you do the job on time and within budget.

The cable layer is operated by wireless controls. The units are communicating over Industrial Ethernet and Asi is used in the security system. All units will be logging locally and can export to other systems.
The Drammen Yard Cable Carousel also allows for swift de-mobilization and "mothballing" when your ship is put to other use.
When the next assignment comes up, your vessel may then be refitted for cable laying, again in a matter of days.
